2. What is the value of teachers using inquiry questions?

  1. The value of an inquiry question is to get students to think for themselves. If you're just copying an answer right from the text you are not learning, you're memorizing. If you have a question that allows you to use your brain and think of what you're opinion is, you will be able to improve you're own skills in almost anything.

  2. The value of teachers using inquiry questions is to train our minds to think of many different possibilities. If all we answered with was "yes", or "no", our minds would be so closed off and we'd all be of one opinion. Sometimes inquiry questions can be hard, but those are the ones with the most value because if they are easy, then your thought process isn't being challenged.

  3. The value of an inquiry question is so the teacher isn't reading the same answer over and over again. They get to read different point of views on the same question. The students can also think out side of the box to get their answer they aren't stuck to a certain format or style.

  4. 2. It helps students to think "outside the box" and instead of just having one answer set in stone, there are other possibilities that must be acknowledged. An inquiry question is kind of like yoga for the brain, makes it work a little bit harder, stretch some muscles that don't get stretched with any regular question. :) yay for healthy brains.

  5. The value of an inquiry question is to get us to speak or own opinions and not just agree with someone else. I agree with Janine inquiry questions are used to train our minds.

  6. The value of teachers using inquiry questions is to get students to broaden their thoughts and ideas. Instead of the same old answer, an inquiry questions allows students to think of their own new ideas. Inquiry questions provide a challenge to students because they can't just look up the textbook answer.

  7. 2. Inquiry questions help the teacher to get us thinking at a deeper level. It also gets us thinking about the world around us and also invites us to inquire, ask questions about what we think and believe. I like what Zack said about the teachers, "they get to read different point of views on the same question". Other wise being a teacher would get super boring, so it would be nice to see different ideas to the same question.

  8. I think that the value of Teachers using "inquiry questions" is great because when else In our life, are we going to be with smothered with questions that involve "critical thinking". More Importantly, your comfort level with your teacher will be completely lost after grade 12 making you uneasy in some learning situations.

  9. Inquiry Questions give the teachers a variety of answers based on the same question. Getting a different point of view from each student might help teachers in finding a happy medium for further essay or exam questions. They also involve some more thinking than closed ended questions.

  10. Inquiry questions help the teacher see what the student is really thinking. It is a good insight to how the student really thinks, however some students will just answer in the way they think the teacher wants them to answer. That is counter productive.
