Asking inquiry questions not just to parents but to students and getting serious and proper feedback is what helps make the school a better place and deal with problems that not everyone may notice. It makes it more fair by getting information from all the students instead of one person making all of the desicions for the school.
Inquiry are great for everyone to talk about what they think. Like Ben said I like when the question sparks a in depth class discussion. Also I like how it sometimes give us breaks from work in class.
The value of teacher's using inquiry questions is to once again spark thought and possibly intrigue, enough to have something to write or use for a piece of writing etc.
One value of teachers asking students inquiry questions is so that the teachers gains an understanding of the students point of view and to see how much they have learned and/or missed and/or misunderstood so that the teacher knows what they need to focus on more.
It is good so that everyone gets a chance to share their ideas, among others. Broaden your mind and maybe other peoples ideas may influence how you interpret things.
I agree with most people with the idea that inquiry questions help teachers to understand their students more, but I also think it helps the students to understand themselves more. An inquiry question often helps to generate thought on a subject where perhaps there was no thought before. It helps to specify thoughts into ideas and opinions, which in turn helps students to learn and if necessary write about the subject.
The inquiry questions help us think outside the box. it is nice to be able to think and say what we think on the subject instead of just reading something and answering the straight up questions.
They find out information that student's know thet the teachers might not be aware of.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Allison. So students can give a thoughtful answer rather than a simple yes or no
