1. Any homework not in by tomorrow will have to be done at lunch.
2. Add a comment to this post in response to the rubric development lesson we did today. You should indicate the relative value of participating in the process that will be used to evaluate your blogging, as well as the relative value of the blogging itself. Your comment should be about five sentences long.
I think that learning the rubric will help with the understanding on how we'll be marked on our blogs and that'll help with our understanding of the blogging process, which to me is a complete waste of time.
ReplyDeleteIt made sense for us to make the rubic ourselves so we would fully understand what we were expected to accomplish with our blogs. Now in some sense we can pick our own grades, if we want to be an examplery student we have the knowledge to become that way.
ReplyDeleteI've never blogged before but i think it's a great way to discuss not just books but any idea in general. We can talk about the book with our peers and be able to make connections with them. Plus it's something different than just writing on a piece of paper, especially since most nowadays kids are familiar with computers, so it works in that way.
I believe that todays lesson was good for understanding that we will be marked for commenting on the blog. I also think that blogging online with mr marshall watching to make sure we understand what we are doing. This will help make this english lesson for the year go smoother and to help those who don't understand for extra help if needed. We as a class probally understand that this is a part of class and can be read by virtually anyone in the world.
ReplyDeleteParticipating in the process that will be used to mark ourselves and our blog posts is very helpful. Rather than having a teacher put out the standards for this, we have the power of using our own standards to create a bog that meets our satisfactory. This is also a disadvantage to some people since they can't denounce their own marking criteria. In general, it is interesting to hear the opinions and views of my classmates on the work we did that day or on "The Catcher in the Rye"; something that we wouldn't usually do during class.
ReplyDeleteI think having a blog for our class and others is a great way to stay connected in an intresting way everyone likes. I agree with Carly when she's saying we have our own standards that meets our expectations. That can also be for the rubric, knowing what we can achieve to be great students. I personally like know what to strive for to get an A, aswell as with my classmates I presume...
ReplyDeleteI think it is a great idea that we have to make the rubric ourselves. That way we are able to work at an accomplished or exemplary level because we are more familiar with the standards. I've never bloggged before either but I think it's an awesome way to share our ideas and opinions with our classmates.
ReplyDeleteI think that helping to make and studying the rubric will help me understand how to post a good quality comment. If the rubric was just given to me and not explained i probably wouldn't use it or understand it as well. I also think the blog will help people understand better because they can read what other people say and take it into acount. This blog could be very usefull.
ReplyDeleteI think it was a great idea for us to do the rubrics ourselves, It helps me understand it better. This way I am able to work my way to and exemplary level. I have never blogged before and I think it is a fantastic for me and my classmate to share our ideas and opinions
ReplyDeleteI think that the lesson about the rubric we did today is sort of confusing and not understandable to me. However, like Brad said I do agree with him that helping make and studying the rubric will help me understand a bit more.
ReplyDeleteI think that making the rubric was very important because it will give us a better understanding of what we are expected to do. I also think that studying the rubric will show us how to write a great post. We now have the knowlegde to know what you are expecting of us to be accomplished or exemplary students. I think blogging is a great way to express our thoughts and ideas about "Catcher in the Rye" or work done in class. It will help people stay connected to the story or to be involved in group disscusions.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a great idea to get an idea on how to mark our work. It made sense that keeping up with the blog is a good way to check work. As well as keep up to date on the novel. The rubric also give us an understanding on how to write a great post or comment. So far i believe the book is fairly interesting.
ReplyDeletewell i wasint there to day there for i dont no what you guys did and lol there for im not staying in at lunch
ReplyDeleteThe way we talked and discussed the rubric system today with the small groups was great. The fact we had and are having a part in the method of marking for our blogs is a good thing. So instead of just studying and reading how were being marked were acctually being involved in the making of how were being marked. This whole blogging thing is a good experience, I'm still not that use to it and I am shy to express my thoughts where everyone can view them, but all in all I do enjoy the way I can check and see what homework needs to be done for the next class.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, James and Ryleigh weren't in school today; I wonder who Anonymous is? I need your 1949 paragraphs and any incomplete blogs done before tomorrow's class - this was yesterday's assignment.
ReplyDeleteSahara, I promise not to delete your comment this time.
Discussing the rubric as a class was a good way to understand what we need to do to get the mark we want. This way i can aim for an A because i know what is expected in order to achieve it. The value of blogging itself is helpful because we can make good connections to the book and to comments posted by other classmates.
ReplyDeleteFor one thing the anonymous wasn't me, but I also don't exactly know what this is all about... The most I can say about this assignment is that a rubric (though I don't know the one that our class created) would be a wonderful idea to help us as students better adapt ourselves to the blogging system along with knowing what we are expected to accomplish. Also,I believe that the blogging is a good way for all of our ideas to connect and inspire more ideas in others.
ReplyDeleteCreating the rubic was a great way of learning what is expected of us when we create our posts. Knowing what we need to do to reach an A in this class will Help myself and i hope everyone else. Also blogging is a very amazing opportinity we as teenagers can experiance. As you look at this page you see comments from all your peers. Now instead of doing work by yourself, you can get some guidence and understanding from your peers.
